How Photopilot works with Adobe Commerce / Magento

A Magento catalog often already contains everything a fashion team needs: SKUs, EANs, custom attributes for material and care label, categories, and a populated media gallery. Photopilot reads that structure directly through the REST API and builds on it with images and copy. What you approve is sent as a clean export set to your own Magento import.

What Photopilot reads from Magento

Photopilot uses the REST API to retrieve products with their SKU, name, inventory, and the custom attributes from your attribute sets. Attributes for EAN or GTIN, brand, color, size, material, and care label are recognized, even if you named them in Dutch. Existing images are included from the media gallery in their position, and Photopilot deliberately leaves disabled images untouched. The category tree is imported as well, so each item ends up in its deepest category.

Match by SKU and EAN, including configurable products

Each Magento product gets fixed keys in Photopilot: the product ID, SKU, and EAN. Incoming supplier files, studio photos, and packshots are linked to the right item using those keys. The simple products under a configurable product are imported as their own SKUs, with their color, size, and EAN from the attributes, so images and text are ready per SKU. This means no one has to rename filenames by hand.

What happens to images and text in Photopilot

Supplier images, your own packshots, and ghost mannequin shots are cut out, cropped, and converted to your shop format. Where an image is missing, Photopilot creates AI model photos or campaign images, with Iris as the AI creative director maintaining your brand style. Product texts and SEO texts are written based on the attributes already in Magento, and materials and care symbols are recognized and stored. Everything appears in a review screen where the team approves or adjusts each item.

Back to Magento through your own import

Approved images and copy are sent as an export set to FTP or SFTP, to the Webshop Excel, or via the API to your ERP or middleware. The images are in the agreed order, so base image, small image, and thumbnail land correctly in the media gallery right away. Alt text, meta title, and meta description are included per SKU in the same delivery. Magento itself remains the place where your import rules and store views stay in control.

A daily overview for the e-commerce team

By default, Photopilot reads only what has changed in Magento since the previous run every two hours, so new SKUs are ready quickly. Each day, the team sees which items still have no image, no text, or no approval. With autopilot, fixed steps such as cutouts and cropping run automatically as soon as new material arrives. Reports show how many items per category can go live with complete content.

Setup: an integration, not an IT project

You create an integration in Magento with read access to the catalog and inventory, and share the four OAuth keys, or an admin token. Since Magento 2.4.4, all four keys are required for an integration. We then agree together which attributes are the source of truth and what the export set should look like for your import. Large catalogs run through in a single pass, and a fixed limit on API requests per minute can be set if the server requires it.

Yes. Photopilot reads the products from Magento, edits or creates the images, and prepares them in the correct order per SKU. They are sent to your own Magento import via FTP, SFTP, the Webshop Excel, or the API, so the media gallery is populated in one go.

How do I connect Adobe Commerce to Photopilot?

In Magento admin, go to System and create an integration with read access to products, categories, and inventory, then share the four OAuth keys with us. An admin token also works. Photopilot tests the connection immediately and shows how many products are found.

Does Photopilot work with configurable products in Magento?

Yes. Photopilot reads the simple products under a configurable product as their own SKUs, with color, size, and EAN from your attributes. The export set matches your configurable structure per SKU, so your import places the images with the correct variant.

Does Photopilot use our own Magento attributes for material and care label?

Yes, attributes such as materiaal, material, waslabel or care_symbols are recognized and included. If that information is missing, Photopilot can extract and add material and care symbols from label photos.

How much do AI model photos cost for a Magento online store?

AI photos cost between €0.05 and €0.21 per photo at queue pricing and are often ready within an hour. If you want the highest detail quality, choose Precision+. A fixed AI model with your own face costs €1.37.

Can we review images before they appear in Magento?

Yes. Everything first appears in Photopilot's review screen, per item and per color. Only what you approve is included in the export set, so nothing reaches the media gallery unseen.

Does a Magento extension need to be installed for Photopilot?

No. Photopilot uses Magento’s standard REST API, so no module is needed on the server. To send data back, you use the import you already have or middleware that picks up the export set.

Does Photopilot work with multiple store views and languages in Magento?

Product text and SEO text can be created in multiple languages and included in the export per language. This lets you link them to the correct store view in the import.

What does Photopilot do if a supplier does not provide images for our Magento items?

The item is then listed in the missing images overview. Photopilot can use a simple product photo to create a packshot, ghost mannequin image, or AI model photo, so the item can still go live complete.

How often does Photopilot read our Magento catalog?
