How Photopilot works with Sylius

Sylius is built to be customized, so almost every Sylius store has its own way of storing attributes, variants, and images. Photopilot reads your products and attributes through the Sylius API, handles the image and text work, and delivers the result in a format your own import can understand. This gives a custom store a standard content process without extra custom development in the store itself.

What Photopilot reads from Sylius

Photopilot uses the API Platform endpoints in Sylius to retrieve the code, name, variants, and images for each product. We also read product attributes such as EAN, material, care instructions, or product group, so they can be used right away. Existing images are included with their type, so we know which one is the main image. Each run only reads what has changed in Sylius since the previous run.

Match by product code, variant code, and EAN

In Sylius, the product code is the fixed key, and Photopilot uses it together with the variant codes and an EAN attribute to match images. Suppliers often deliver by EAN or their own item number, and we translate those to the correct Sylius code. If you use an attribute for color, we group images by color so each color variant gets the right set. This keeps the connection stable, even if your variant setup differs from the standard.

In Photopilot, packshots and supplier images get the same background, crop, and margins, based on the rules that fit your theme. No model photo? Approved images are ready on FTP/SFTP with filenames based on product code and sequence number, so the order is fixed in Sylius. Copy, alt text, and translations are included in the Webshop Excel or via the Photopilot API, per product and per locale. An import command or fixture loader in your Sylius project then puts them in the right place. Because the delivery always has the same format, this is a one-time setup.

Channels and languages in Sylius

Sylius uses channels and translated product fields, and Photopilot follows that structure. You can set image rules per channel, for example a different aspect ratio for a B2B channel or an outlet. Texts are created per language, so every translation gets its own natural copy instead of a literal conversion. The overview shows which products are complete for each channel.
