Where things often go wrong in PrestaShop.
Features and combinations mixed together
In PrestaShop, features are descriptive and combinations are variants. Adding a material as a combination creates unnecessary variants; Photopilot adds descriptive values as features.
Inconsistent attribute values
Three spellings for the same color create three filter options. Photopilot uses the existing values to keep faceted search clean.
Languages left empty
Copy that only exists in the default language leaves other languages empty. Photopilot fills every active language in the same run.
How we connect PrestaShop.
- 1
Create web service key
Under Advanced parameters, Webservice, create a key with permissions for products and features.
- 2
Map fields and picklists
We define which fields in PrestaShop are leading, which ones Photopilot fills, and which values belong to your option lists.
- 3
Trial run on your items
Photopilot enriches a selection of real items. You can review the changes field by field before anything goes live.
- 4
Enable by attribute and by field
After that, it runs automatically for every new item. We always enable publishing to the live shop together.
Frequently asked questions about content enrichment in PrestaShop
Which fields does Photopilot fill in PrestaShop?
For each language, the description, short description, meta title, and meta description, plus target audience, color, material, and Web only as an attribute.
Do the features work as filters in PrestaShop?
Yes. You can enable attributes as filters in the faceted search module.
What is the difference between attributes and combinations?
Attributes describe the product, such as material or target group. Combinations are variants, such as size and color. Photopilot populates the attributes and leaves your combinations unchanged.
Does Photopilot change our product URLs?
No. The link_rewrite stays in place, so existing links and Google rankings are preserved.
What if our ERP specifies a different target audience than Photopilot?
For each attribute, you choose which source takes priority: the source system or Photopilot. If Photopilot differs, you see a warning on the item.
Is a PrestaShop module required?
No. Photopilot uses the standard PrestaShop webservice.
What does content enrichment for PrestaShop cost?
Product copy, SEO and translations in a single run start at €0.01 per product. For enriching older items, you see the price in advance, and attributes are billed at cost.
