Typically Shopify

Where things often go wrong in Shopify.

  1. Metafields without a definition

A metafield without a definition is barely usable for your theme or for Search & Discovery. Photopilot creates the definitions so material, care instructions, and Web only are available directly in your theme and filters.

  2. No product category, no category metafields

Target group, color and fabric are linked to the product category in Shopify. Photopilot selects the category from the standard taxonomy and then fills in the associated metafields.

  3. Changing a filled-in handle without checking

A different handle means a different URL, which costs you links and Google rankings. Photopilot keeps a live URL in place and improves the copy around it.

  4. Override store recommendations

Products you selected as combine-with items remain in place. Photopilot adds more from approved sets.

Shopify Plus

Shopify Plus works the same way: the same Admin API, the same metafields, and the same SEO fields. If you use multiple stores, for example by country, Photopilot fills each store with texts in that store's language.

Connect

How we connect Shopify.

  1. 1

    Grant app access in Shopify

You give Photopilot access to the store with permission to read and write products. We test the connection on a few real products.

  2. 2

    Map fields and picklists

We define which fields in Shopify are leading, which ones Photopilot fills, and which values belong to your option lists.

  3. 3

    Trial run on your items

Photopilot enriches a selection of real items. You can review the changes field by field before anything goes live.

  4. 4

Enable by attribute and by field

After that, it runs automatically for every new item. We always enable publishing to the live shop together.
